New Year and a New Idea

First, I could not resist the room setting.  I enjoy looking at it.  It has a relaxed atmosphere about it and I'd love to have my own living space convey the same feel. Very conducive to settling into a good read.

What I am planning for this is site a a personal log of my adventure into a new realm of literacy.  I can read and read well, but something's missing.  I have suspected for quite a while that I have been reading without the comprehension that I could've had if I had learned to enjoy reading a long time ago.  And had read what has become the foundation of learning for the Western world, at least.  Other regions have much to offer and if I can find translations, that too will be included.

I had no time for that before, but now is a different time for me.  I'm getting in late, I know, and I have loads of catching up to do.  But, like I read somewhere, a journey begins with the first step and so does the adventure.  So let it begin. Here and now.

First, I needed some help in focus and direction.  After searching for a while I settled on a book by Susan Wise Bauer, The Well Educated Mind, as a guide.  It just arrived today.  I will use her suggestions as a jumping off point.  Changes can happen and most likely will as I go through this process.  Hoping to find a support group either face to face or online.  A little voice in my head says I'll probably need one.
