Still plugging along with this project.  Very slow going right now for some reason.  Maybe moving too fast and need to slow down.  So, OK.  Made it through Gilgamesh without any real problems, although the poet form was lost to me.  Might have been the version I read or the way it was formatted.  

Sometimes free downloads lack in that department.  Now I am trying to read the next batch--lyricists.  The one I started first was Pindar.  Oh my, so far it has been a major disappointment.  But, Sappho on the other hand is some good reading.  Not memorable, but still engaging.  And that may be the point in the progress forward.  

Pindar, what I've read so far is formulaic.  Cheers for the winner and his pedigree.  They are songs sung at celebrations for the Olympic winners in different events.  A real slog, for me.

Sappho is writing love songs.  The version I have reads like a Shakespearean sonnet nearly.  Or maybe he reads like Sappho?  Which ever way, it is much easier going. 

So, now I've dropped by here and posted an update.  Maybe it'll spur me on to more work in the poetry arena now.  You know, that nagging little voice that says I haven't done an update and I can't update unless I do something.
